Policy for Campus Cable TV Programming
Cable TV programming is available in most buildings at Dickinson College. Due to licensing agreements with the college’s cable programming provider, various and differing programming levels are made available in academic, administrative and residential locations. Library and Information Services (LIS) has sole responsibility for distributing the programming to the campus and for any and all additions, deletions, changes and maintenance to the existing campus cable plant.
Generally, local programming and foreign language channels are available in all academic and administrative buildings.
Local and foreign language programming is available in all residential rooms. Additionally an expanded level of programming is provided in all shared living and lounge spaces in all the residential locations on campus. A complete list of available programming can be found on the LIS web site @ http://lis.dickinson.edu/Technology/CableTV/index.htm.
Any alteration to the existing cable TV system is strictly prohibited, unless a request is made and approved in writing by LIS. Due to licensing agreements and system balancing requirements, no extended cable drops, single splitters or non college provided programming/converter boxes may be added to the cabling infrastructure that are not approved and maintained by LIS.
Unauthorized alterations to the cable system will be removed and the responsible parties will be considered to have violated this policy and will be considered for disciplinary action , the consequences of which may include, but not be limited to, denial of cable TV programming access.
