Listen to and Create Sound Files in the PC Language Lab
These instructions are for students who are assigned to listen to sound files and then practice their pronunciation.
- Listen to the audio file you are using as a model by either clicking on the link in the web page or double clicking on the file. Your instructor can give you the location.
- Listen to file until you think you are comfortable enough to repeat it.
- If it is not already open, start the Sound Recorder by going to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Sound Recorder.
- Press the record button and speak into the microphone in the headset.
- Press the play button to listen to your own voice.
- Click File -> New in the Sound Recorder menu to try again. A dialogue box will open asking you if you want to save changes to the sound file. Click No.
- Try again by clicking the Record button.
- Listen to yourself by clicking the Play button.
- If you are satisfied with your recording, click File -> Save As in the Sound Recorder.
- Save your file in the Instructor's share by browsing to the Desktop -> Share -Tempdrop. This will place your file in a folder on the instructor's computer at the front of the room. Enter a file name that includes your own name along with the assignment. Click Save.
