United Ministries in Higher Education (Pennsylvania Commission) papers, 1947-1998.
Online register (pdf)The Pennsylvania Commission for United Ministries in Higher Education was the ecumenical agency through which seven Protestant denominations worked together to provide for and to carry out Christian ministry in higher educational institutions in Pennsylvania between 1967 and 1998, supporting and overseeing Protestant Campus Ministries at the state-owned colleges and universities and the three Commonwealth universities. It served as a bridge between local boards and the campus ministries serving these institutions and the "middle judicatories" of the denominations which provided most of the funding. The Pennsylvania Commission, UMHE collection is arranged into twelve open categories, such as commission records, policies and procedures, other church/religious organizations, and history and origins of the UMHE. All records for the organization are located in this collection. The majority of the material is organized chronologically within the twelve categories.
