Friends of the Library: Benefits

If you share a love of learning, we hope you will consider becoming a Friend of the Dickinson College Library. As a member, you will not only join a host of active, talented individuals committed to providing financial support for the further care and development of Dickinson's fine library collections, but you will also be entitled to several membership benefits. You will receive copies of materials printed and supported by the Friends. You will receive invitations to receptions, dinners, lectures, and exhibitions sponsored by the Friends. You will receive borrowing privileges in the Waidner-Spahr Library. Finally, you will have the opportunity to become more involved in the growth and development of the wonderful educational resources of Dickinson College.

All members of the Friends of the Dickinson College Library may enjoy the privilege of borrowing materials from the Waidner-Spahr Library, subject to the rules and regulations applicable to all borrowers and under the following special conditions:

LIMIT No more than 6 items may be charged out at any one time.

BORROW-PRINT

The loan period for print material is 28 days and may be renewed twice.
BORROW-AV Friends members are able to check out one item in any video or music format (LP, CD, VHS, DVD, etc.) for twenty-four hours and may be renewed twice.
RECALL Because the library collections exist primarily for the use of Dickinson students and faculty, we reserve the right to recall a book when necessary. Please return recalled materials within 2 days of receiving our request.
OVERDUES Charges for print items are assessed at a rate of 25 cents a day per item with a maximum fine of $25. Charges for AV items are assessed at $1 per day with a maximum fine of $15.00. Additional items may not be borrowed until all overdue items are returned and all overdue charges are paid.
LOST BOOKS The cost to the patron who has lost a book will be $75 plus a fee of $25, non-refundable, for ordering and processing the new book. Charges for lost books no longer available for purchase will be determined on an individual basis.
ILL Interlibrary loan services are a special privilege to Friends members, available otherwise only to the College community. Materials that can be obtained free of charge will be provided free of charge. In cases where the lending library charges for their materials, these charges will be passed along to the Friends member making the request.
